We usually start at 8:30 AM at our surf shop in the old town of Lagos and wrap up around 3:30 or 4:00 PM, based on the day’s conditions. Our team selects beaches with the best waves, so you can improve your technique while exploring Portugal’s stunning coastline. We offer surf lessons for kids at an age of 6 years or older or even the whole family. We make sure to bring your little ones and you into contact with this exciting sport in a safe and fun way. Kids under the age of 12 need a little more supervision. We ensure this important individual attention as well as a safe & caring atmosphere by operating at a ratio of one surf instructor per four kids.
Small surfers have the ability to learn surfing faster, easier and differently from adults. Therefore our lessons are especially tailored to children. For parents joining the lesson, please be assured that we chose the beach with focus on the little ones. We will do our best that your day at the beach with us will be one of the top highlights of your vacation and maybe your first family surf trip!!

If you are an advanced surfer ready to refine your skills, our surf guiding service is a strong choice. We limit groups to four surfers, so you get a personal approach. Our guides pick the best local spots on the south and west coasts, matching each surfer’s level to the right waves.

For our surf lessons, we recommend bringing a towel, sunscreen, and a swimsuit. Ideally also your greatest smile and good vibes. We provide the surfboards and wetsuits.
We provide you with the neccessary equipment like surfboard, wetsuite and a rash vest. For groupe and private lessons the transport to and from the beach is included as well. Departing from Jah Shaka Shop in Old Town Lagos. We'll choose the beach which provides the best conditions on the day. For every booking, you also receive a 10% discount on any products at the Jah Shaka Surf Shop (Offer not available on selected technical products, rentals and other activities).
You must be able to swim (Kids Surf Lessons are guided by an instructor with a lifeguard training). Lessons are normally in English, but we do also offer Portuguese, German and French speaking. Please mention this option when you book the activity.
Our surf lessons are suitable for participants aged 8 and above. Children under 16 years can enroll in our tailored Kids Surf Lessons.
To schedule a surf lesson, simply send us a booking request via our website, contact our team or visit our shop in Lagos. We will assist you in finding a suitable time slot. Please note that bookings should be done at least 24h before the day you want to go surfing, in our shop or online. Lessons are available all year round except on 25th of December and 1rst of January.
