Fleamarket Barão de São João
Every last Sunday of the month you get the chance to find some very interesting, colorful and most of all unexpected treasures on the Fleamarket Barão de São João. Hippies from all over Europe gather on the small field next to the village and sell beautiful hand crafted jewelry, second hand clothes, paintings, old records, books or random treats from all over the world next to their moving homes.
While walking in between the colorful camper vans you definitely start making plans on buying a home on wheels and travelling the world, stopping where the wheels stop rolling. Make sure you take your time to have a close look at all the stands, you never know what you might discover. Perhaps a sanded, polished fossil necklace made by two wonderful men, who are working 4-5 hours on one necklace, turning every single one into your unique memory of Portugal. They collect the fossils around the area, then sand them down until the fascinating pattern can be seen.
